Medical Sales Representative
Job Summary
The Medical Sales Representative (MSR) is an important link between a pharmaceutical supplier and the local medical community. Their main responsibility is to raise awareness of the company’s products among healthcare professionals (HCPs) with the aim of increasing usage by patients. Awareness is built through individual sales presentations, group meetings and educational programs via a combination of face-to-face and virtual interactions. All activities are conducted in compliance with the policies and values of Lowe’s Wholesale and its pharmaceutical supplier partners.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Promotes pharmaceuticals and medical supplies by communicating authorized marketing messages to HCPs such as general practitioners, medical specialists, pharmacists, nurses, dentists and optometrists, in both private and government sectors.
- Makes regular visits to customers (HCPs) in offices, clinics and pharmacies, to present company products and persuade them to write prescriptions or make purchases.
- Informs HCPs on all adverse events and contraindications related to particular
- Reports adverse events and other pharmacovigilance (PV) information in accordance with Lowe’s and manufacturer requirements.
- Provides regular product updates to HCPs and keeps abreast of current medical literature or developments that can impact product performance.
- Participates in annual strategic planning activities with vendors and Lowe’s Pharma
- Implements business strategies focused on achieving sales
- Plans and manages promotional and educational activities for HCPs and patient groups, consistent with company policies.
- Ensures that all promotional ventures are managed within
- Maintains strong working relationships with customers, especially key opinion leaders (KOLs), in the private and public sectors, to add value to their practices.
- Conducts appropriate activities to achieve and maintain formulary acceptance of products assigned to hospitals/institutions.
- Monitors retail and government pharmacies to ensure products are in stock and available for dispensing.
- Monitors competitive activity such as promotional tactics, pricing and HCP
- Attends medical and pharmacy conferences to support the healthcare community and to keep company products in the spotlight.
- Maintains updated contact information on HCPs, KOLs and other persons who impact product sales, such as hospital procurement staff.
- Maintains good compliance practices and adheres to company
- Participates in annual training programs provided by Lowe’s and pharmaceutical companies, including at least one PV training per year.
- Keeps appropriate records relating to the discharge of responsibilities such monthly sales reports, call frequency and expense reports.

Organizational Relationships
The MSR reports to the Pharma Brand Support Manager and indirectly to the Pharmaceutical Director. He/she liaises regularly with divisional employees such as the Pharma Manager, Sales & Service Manager, Warehouse Manager, and pharmacy sales and customer service representatives.
Requirements - Education and Experience
The MSR should possess at least a Bachelor’s degree in medical sciences, allied health, or business management plus three years’ sales experience. Comprehensive understanding of the medical/pharmaceutical industry is an asset. This person must have a professional demeanor with effective communication and presentation abilities. He/she must be a self-motivated team player proficient in time management, planning, organizing, and computer applications such as Microsoft Office.

This is a demanding position that requires a flexible schedule and dealing with difficult personalities and conflicts while maintaining a consistently professional and calm demeanor.
