Pharmacy Assistant / Pharmacy Technician
*Job Summary: *
The Pharmacy Assistant/Technician supports the pharmacist in the day-to-day operations of the retail pharmacy. Responsibilities include assisting with dispensing medications, managing inventory, customer service, and maintaining pharmacy records in compliance with regulatory requirements.
*Key Responsibilities:*
- Assist the pharmacist in preparing and dispensing prescription medications.
- Enter prescription details accurately into the pharmacy management system.
- Label, package, and organize prescriptions for patient pickup.
- Provide excellent customer service by answering questions and helping patients with over-the-counter (OTC) products.
- Maintain inventory by stocking shelves, checking for expired items, and ordering supplies as needed.
- Handle payments, process insurance claims, and maintain billing records.
- Comply with all legal, ethical, and professional standards of pharmacy practice.
- Support general cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy.
*Qualifications:*
- Certificate or diploma in Pharmacy Technician/Assisting (or in training)
- Registration or licensed with Pharmacy Council.
- Previous retail pharmacy experience is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and as part of a team.
*Working Conditions:*
- Standing for extended periods
- Must be flexible and able to multitask without distraction
- Must be able to meet deadlines
