Restaurant Server Job Description

We are seeking a professional, friendly, and customer-focused Restaurant Server to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional dining experiences by delivering excellent customer service, taking accurate orders, and ensuring guests are satisfied throughout their visit.

The Restaurant Server will greet guests, explain menu items, make recommendations, serve food and beverages, and maintain a clean and organized dining area. The successful candidate must be energetic, attentive, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome and seat guests in a friendly and professional manner

• Present menus, explain specials, and answer questions about food and beverages

• Take accurate food and drink orders and enter them into the POS system

• Serve food and beverages promptly and professionally

• Monitor tables and ensure guests’ needs are met throughout their dining experience

• Make menu recommendations and upsell food, beverages, and desserts

• Prepare tables by setting up linens, silverware, and glassware

• Process customer payments accurately and efficiently

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining and service areas

• Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and management to ensure timely service

• Handle guest concerns or complaints professionally and promptly

• Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines

• Assist with opening and closing side duties as assigned

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Restaurant Server or in customer service preferred

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Friendly, professional, and positive attitude

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

• Strong multitasking and organizational skills

• Ability to work well independently and as part of a team

• Basic math and cash handling skills

• Familiarity with POS systems is an asset

• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

• Food handling or hospitality certification is a plus

• Knowledge of food, beverage, and restaurant service standards preferred

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods

• Ability to carry trays, plates, and beverages safely

• Ability to work efficiently in a busy restaurant environment
