Job Summary

The Retail Custodian is responsible for ensuring that the office environment is clean, hygienic, and conducive to productivity. This role requires maintaining a high level of confidentiality, being discreet, and ensuring minimal disruption to meetings and coworkers while performing cleaning tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Clean and sanitize restrooms, kitchen areas, and other office spaces daily.
  2. Sweep and mop floors regularly.
  3. Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, and office equipment.
  4. Empty trash and recycling bins and ensure proper disposal.
  5. Restock supplies in restrooms, kitchens, and other common areas.
  6. Ensure all cleaning equipment is maintained and stored properly.
  7. Report any necessary repairs or replacements to the appropriate personnel.
  8. Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion, ensuring that sensitive information is not disclosed.
  9. Be mindful of meeting schedules and avoid cleaning areas where meetings are in progress. Return at a later time.
  10. Perform duties quietly and efficiently to minimize disturbances to coworkers.
  11. Follow safety protocols and use cleaning chemicals responsibly.
  12. Executes any other duty assigned by management.

 

Organizational Relationships          

This position reports to the Store Manager and indirectly to managers within the main office. He/she interacts regularly with customer service reps and medical reps.

Requirements - Education and Experience 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a custodian, janitor, or in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
  • Ability to handle cleaning equipment and machinery.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high standards of cleanliness.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
  • Good communication skills and a professional demeanor.
  • Trustworthiness and the ability to handle confidential information.
  • Ability to work efficiently without disturbing coworkers.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to perform manual tasks.
  • A positive attitude and the ability to work well with others.

 

Physical Demands

He/she must have the physical ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job which may include standing, bending, lifting and carrying loads up to 15 pounds.
